Weave is located in Melpignano<\/b>, common in the Salento peninsula, which belongs to the historic region of Grec\u00eca Salentina<\/i>, a linguistic island where an ancient language of Greek origin is spoken, the griko.<\/p>

The Borgo is famous for hosting the final concert of the Taranta Night Festival<\/b>.<\/p>

Olive groves, pastures and endless flat expanses, divided only by dry stone walls, host the village of Melpignano, which has always been a crossroads of trade, cultures and different languages.<\/p>

The area surrounding the inhabited center is rich in quarries from which the Lecce stone<\/i>, material used to build the buildings of the village. Melpignano rose to national prominence thanks to the final concert of La<\/strong> Notte della Taranta.<\/b><\/p>

La Notte della Taranta is a popular music festival that aims to enhance traditional Salento music through its revival and contamination with other musical languages.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

It takes place in August, in itinerant form in various squares of Salento, starting from Corigliano d\u2019Otranto and culminating in the concert of Melpignano, which sees the participation of nationally and internationally renowned musicians.
